Artistic Director Kim Jones

Kim Jones (Founder and Artistic Director) is a Korean-American artist born and raised in New York City. She is an Associate Professor of Dance at University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Régisseur for the Martha Graham Center in NYC.

Jones previously danced with the Martha Graham Dance Company and the Metropolitan Opera Ballet, and served as a principal dancer in the U.S. National Tour of The King and I.

In summer 2025, Jones curated a dance festival for the National Maritime Museum in London, U.K to celebrate the reopening of the Ocean Court, the museum’s largest indoor space. She also presented choreography at this event. Her recent research focuses on the choreography of Korea’s first female modern dancer, Choi Seung-Hee (1911–1969) ,a project that led to her being awarded a Dance Research Fellowship from the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, where she presented her findings at their 2024 symposium.

She has also reimagined and reconstructed significant historical works for the stage, including Imperial Gesture (1935) by Martha Graham for the Graham Company and Tracer (1962) by Paul Taylor (with permission from Mr. Taylor), both performed at the Joyce Theater, MoMA in New York City.

In 2023, Jones was the keynote speaker at the Asia Scholar Network Conference at UNC Chapel Hill. She holds an MFA summa cum laude from Florida State University and a BFA from Marymount Manhattan College.
