IN-SCHOOL PROGRAMS

WE BELIEVE IN PUBLIC ARTS EDUCATION

Movement Migration is proud to offer high-caliber technique classes that provide students with the opportunity to learn from seasoned professional dance artists who have performed for world-renowned dance companies and choreographers! We love sharing what we love most with educators and their students through our in-school programs. See what program fits for you and your students!

Movement Migration is currently completing a monthly residency with our middle and high school students. Their expertise, approach to teaching, and connection with students, along with teaching a variety of genres, has allowed our students to have a one-of-a-kind experience when working with professional dancers on a regular basis.

USING DANCE TO RESPOND TO CURRENT EVENTS RESIDENCY

This thought-provoking residency invites students to examine the connection between historical events and the arts. Movement Migration dance artists, steeped in the legacy of the celebrated modern dance pioneer Martha Graham, lead this residency. Students learn about two works: Steps in the Street (1936) and Lamentation (1930) and create short works using what they’ve learned about the past to respond to events in the present.

MIND/BODY & CREATIVE PROCESS WORKSHOP

This Mind/Body Workshop uses improvisational techniques to facilitate students’ creative process. Dance artists lead students in an exploration of movement qualities, interconnectedness, and intrapersonal communication. Students then create a sequence that embodies a central theme and communicates feelings, thoughts, or images.
