Laura Isabel Velez Figueroa (Apprentice)

Laura Isabel Velez Figueroa, born and raised in Puerto Rico, began her dance training in ballet before expanding into Puerto Rican folklore and musical theater at the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Carolina. She later performed as a company member with Ballet Sangre Viva, under the direction of acclaimed choreographer and educator on the island Raul de la Paz, where she participated in a diverse range of productions spanning opera, traditional folklore, and commercial works.

Laura continued her training in the United States at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she earned a degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Dance. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning.

Bridging her dual passions for dance and athletic performance, Laura is dedicated to integrating evidence-based training into the dance field. She aims to support dancers’ health, longevity, and artistic development through individualized, research-driven conditioning practices. She hopes to return home and share her knowledge and experience, helping to provide opportunities and funding for artists and athletes alike in Puerto Rico.
