INTERCONNECTION

Movement Migration Artistic Director Kim Jones and company artist Blakeley White-McGuire are performing in Italy in June! See what they’ll be performing below, and learn more here!

Path towards Enlightenment Choreographed by Kim Jones & Music by Vong Pak

Path towards Enlightenment is choreographed and performed by Kim Jones in collaboration with composer/percussionist/vocalist Vong Pak. It explores separation, loss of culture due to the Japanese occupation, Korean civil war, and migration. This is an excerpt of a larger work that Jones is creating with her curated team of NY-based Korean artists. She is re-imagining the life of Choi Seung-Hee, the first Korean modern dancer. The first development of this work (May 2022) included So Young An as a dancer, Haejin Han as the Production manager, and Yejin Lee as a photo/videographer.

É Arte? Choreographed by Blakeley White-McGuire
International Premiere

É Arte? is choreographed and conceived by Blakeley White-McGuire to her sound score of open access samples as well as composing music by Felix Blumenfeld and Chris Becker. In “É Arte?” White-McGuire seeks to integrate several movement languages and musical forms. After decades of study and performance in one specific language (the technique and repertory of Martha Graham) and simultaneous practice of social dance forms and interdisciplinary creative practices, the choreographer asks “what is the meaning of and significance of my art now, of my dance? How many different ways can I express my passion for life to my audience?”
